LEGISLATIVE REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

As the State Legislative Representative, it is my responsibility to be familiar with the State Legislative delegation in order to inform our state president and members of NARFE about issues of interest and concern.

            When our state legislature is in session (every other year), efforts are made to become familiar with the bills that are proposed, in session, or being debated, passed and put into effect.  Information obtained from local newspapers and internet research is used as the basis for articles in the Texas Federal Retiree.

            Living in Austin affords me a unique opportunity to become acquainted and personally visit legislators in their offices at the state capitol.  Our Texas Congressmen and Senators also maintain offices here, allowing visitation with them or their assistants.
